Meet the one behind candid kay photography
I specialize in candid, documentary-style photography because I believe the most beautiful moments in life are the ones that unfold naturally. My passion is telling your love story through my lens, capturing authentic moments that you’ll treasure for years to come.
But there’s a deeper story behind my photography that fuels everything I do. The name Candid Kay was inspired by my mother, Melinda Kay Mayo, who passed away in 2021 due to COVID-19. She had an incredible passion for life and for photography, always capturing moments that told the story of the people she loved. Her ability to see beauty in the everyday moments left a lasting impression on me. Through Candid Kay, I’m able to honor her legacy by continuing to document the love, joy, and connections that shape our lives. The lessons she taught me about the importance of preserving memories are what drive me to give my clients photographs that are not just beautiful, but meaningful.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me spending time with my husband, Brison. He’s not only the love of my life but also my biggest supporter. Together, we’ve built a life we’re incredibly proud of, and every day feels like an adventure. We share our home with two fur babies, Bonnie and Presley, who always keep us laughing, and a turtle named Guppy, who adds a bit of quirky charm to our family.
Whether I’m photographing a wedding, a family gathering, or an intimate moment, I approach every shoot with the same dedication and love for storytelling that my mom instilled in me. I feel so honored to be a part of people’s most important moments, and I strive to create timeless images that will evoke memories for generations to come.

The way Lauren captured our day was nothing less than perfect. She’s a beautiful human to work with, and made my day easier just being there. Words can not describe how thankful we are for the way Lauren captured our wedding day. Lauren was absolutely amazing! For meeting her for the first time on my wedding day, she made everything seem so comfortable! She helped my husband and i know exactly what to do during the pictures and made sure to also get our photo inspirations we asked for.
